Boots announces more job losses following declining sales

Boots announced further job cuts at its support office. As this current exercise does not affect stores it will not affect the majority of our members. However any members based in the support office who are affected by this consultation should contact the BPA for individual advice and support.

Pharmacies step up to support the Covid-19 vaccination programme

Around 200  community pharmacies including a number of Boots stores have played a significant role in the success of the Covid-19 vaccination programme in England. Community pharmacies have been given a further opportunity to express interest in becoming vaccination sites and around 1,000 have done so by the 28th February deadline. NHSE&I will now review the applications based on location and local provision before deciding on the final list to be taken forward.

Revalidation for registrants requirements from May 2021

Pharmacists and registered technicians that are due to submit their revalidation records between 1st May 2021 and the 30th November 2021 will only need to submit a reflective account when they renew their registration. This mirrors the approach taken in 2020 and pharmacy professionals are encouraged to reflect on their experiences during the Covid-19 pandemic when completing their reflective account. They should also include their reflections on one or more of the standards listed below.

Standard 3- Pharmacy professionals must communicate effectively.

Standard 6- Pharmacy professionals must behave professionally.

Standard 9- Pharmacy professionals must demonstrate leadership.
