You may have heard that when Walgreens Boots Alliance anounced its third quarter results last week it announced that a review of the store portfolio in the UK had been undertaken and completed. The announcement then went on to describe how around 200 Boots stores are likely  to close over the next eighteen months as a result  of this review. This closure programme will focus on loss making stores which are close to other Boots stores and indeed a number of Boots stores in this situation have closed  in recent months. Boots expects the impact  on pharmacists and other store colleagues to be minimal as there will be the oportunity to redeploy staff from the closed stores in nearby stores. If any of our members are concerned about this proposal or are directly  involved in a store closure then we would recommend that they contact the BPA for support ,advice and representation if this is required. There is no clarity on which stores are to be affected at this stage and we will keep you informed if this situation changes.
